About Me
| I graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I served in the US Marine Corps and recently retired from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where I was professor of computer science. While this background may seem to have little relevance to woodworking, which I have been doing since the early 1970s, it does illustrate my quest for excellence in everything I do.
If I had to choose a mantra, it would be the Shaker saying “make it as if you are going to live for 100 years and as if you are going to die tomorrow”. Their desire for beauty and simplicity resonates with me. Hence, my preference for contemporary and shaker inspired designs. |
